You’ve applied, what's next?

You have registered via Studielink for a degree programme at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and have received an email containing your student number and an invitation to submit your documents for application to the International Office.

Arrange your language test (if applicable)

Whether you apply for an English or Dutch-taught programme, you need to conform to your programme's language requirements. If you haven't already done so, arrange and prepare for your language tests now.

Apply for your visa or residence permit (if applicable)

We have collected all immigration information and immigration forms in two handy pages. Here, you find an overview of what you need to do and when in order to be ready before your programme start date.

Please note: There are strict rules and deadlines surrounding the immigration process, make sure you adhere to these.

To be able to start your studies at the HU, you will first need to take the programme selection check. This usually consists of a digital intake, a matching day/interview and a programme selection advice. After you have registered for the programme of your choice, you will receive the digital intake automatically at the email address you submitted to Studielink. The invitations will be sent between February and June. Please note that this questionnaire must be completed within one month of receipt, otherwise we will not be able to complete your enrolment for your degree programme.

You will receive the HU account mail mid-June at the email address you submitted to Studielink. It contains instructions for logging into your HU account. This will enable you to take a look inside the digital environments of the HU, such as myHU and HU Wegwijs. Did you study at HU before? Then you will keep your previous student number and HU mail address. If you have lost your login details, please go to www.password.hu.nl.

In mid-June, you will receive an email with a link to myHU at the email address you submitted to Studielink. MyHU contains your personal information about the introduction to and start of your programme. You will need to log in with your HU account.

If you have already activated your HU account, you can log in to myHU. Here you will find a check-list you can use to determine whether you have taken all the necessary steps to complete your enrolment.

Pay your tuition fees

As of mid-June, you can arrange the payment of your tuition fees via Studielink. How much do you have to pay in tuition fees? How can you arrange your payment? Do you need a Proof of Payment of Tuition Fees (Bewijs Betaald Collegegeld, BBC)? Find all the necessary information about your tuition fees and payment.

Please note: your tuition fees will not be debited until September at the earliest. You can easily arrange the payment of your tuition fees in Studielink as early as June, so that you will be fully enrolled before the deadline of 31 August.

Verification of prior education

When do you need to have your Dutch prior education verified, how do you arrange verification and where do you submit a copy of your diploma? See www.internationalhu.com/admissions-dutch-diploma for more information.

Did you complete your education abroad? Please go to www.internationalhu.com/admissions-bachelor (start at step 4).

Upload passport photo

We need your passport photo for your student card. You can upload your photo from mid-June. By that time, myHU will offer instructions on how to do so.

Between June and August, you will receive various emails from the HU at the email address you submitted to Studielink. These messages will notify you of all the actions you still need to take to complete your enrolment. They will also refer you to information about the introduction and the start of your degree programme. Some study programmes will send you additional information personally. They send this to your HU mail address, so keep a close eye on your HU inbox as well by regularly logging in to mymail.hu.nl.

Full-time students will also receive letters about the introductions by mail in July and August.

Timetable and class allocation

The class allocation plans and class timetables will be announced during the programme introduction at the end of August. So it’s important to make sure you attend these introduction days.

You must have completed your enrolment by no later than 31 August. So please keep an eye on your enrolment check-list in myHU.

If your programme organises an introduction, it will take place in the last week of August or the first week of September. You will find more detailed information and the dates in myHU from mid-June on.

The programme introductions are important: the timetables and class allocations will often be announced then and you will meet your lecturers and fellow students.

The academic year starts at the beginning of September. From mid-June, you will be able to find more detailed information on myHU about where you have to be on your first day at the HU and at what time.
