Mieke Oostra

Professor

Prof. Mieke Oostra was appointed professor of New Energy in the City at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht in the summer of 2018. Her current research group is embedded in the Research centre for Healthy and Sustainable Living and the Centre of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities. Mieke Oostra was professor in Spatial Transformations at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen (Research centre NoorderRuimte / Centre of Expertise Energy) from January 2012 till the end of 2018. Until 2016, she combined this position with a professorship in Innovative Technology in Construction at Saxion University of Applied Sciences.

Mieke studied Architecture at Delft University of Technology, where she also obtained her doctorate with a dissertation entitled ‘Componentontwerp: de rol van architecten in productinnovatie’ (‘Component design: the role of architects in product innovation’). After that she worked for Slavenburg's Bouwbedrijven (a construction company) for four years. She subsequently went on to work as a senior researcher in building process innovation at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) in the Energy and Comfort systems department.
