International Preparatory programmes

Improve your English and study skills in one of our intensive programmes that prepare you for an English Bachelor or Master in The Netherlands. During your course you will be coached in your personal development by highly qualified tutors as well as senior students, and learn how to encounter the Dutch.

Preparatory programmes at the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht aim at international students who are qualified to participate in an academic course, but who do not yet have the necessary skills to start with an undergraduate degree programme in English. The programmes consist of approximately 24 contact hours per week, and focus on English vocabulary, grammar, speaking, writing, listening and reading skills in over eighteen hours of lessons each week. After successful completion of a course you may expect to obtain an IELTS score of 6 or higher. The English lessons alternate with training in computer and study skills including topics such as time management, working in teams, intercultural communication and project management.

The HU values individual coaching. The entire course embeds personal and professional care, which adds to the student’s progress. Excursions intended to broaden the student’s knowledge and understanding of the Dutch culture are included.
